We Give Books has a free resource page for educators with reading extension activities that were developed by a Master Tteacher and Reading Specialist.  Activities are arranged by grade level and list the standards addressed in the activity, the materials needed, the best setting for the activity (whole group, small group, or individual), and the directions.  This resource is available without any registration.

ReadWorks has over 1000 non-fiction passages that are aligned to the ELA standards for all states.  ReadWorks has research based question sets and the non-fiction passages are lexile leveled.  The site also features lesson plans organized by skill and strategy including, but not limited to, author's purpose, drawing conclusions, figurative language, predicting, and voice.  Most resources on the site are available without registering, but registering with the site allows users a larger selection of reading passages, as well as the ability to save resources in your own binder.
Reading Rockets features reading strategies, author interviews, themed book lists, and parent tips to help with reading at home among the many resources at the site.
